Yummy pav bhaji recipe

When you want to eat something yummy and delicious that is also easy to make then there can be no better choice then pav bhaji. It is lip smacking, easy to cook and also filling.

Preparation time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes
Serves: 4

Ingredients:

For the bhaji:
  • 2 big potatoes peeled
  • 1/2 head cauliflower
  • ½ cup green peas
  • ½ cup chopped carrots
  • ½ cup finely chopped onions
  • ½ cup finely chopped capsicum
  • 1 ½ cup chopped tomatoes
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp chili powder
  • 2 tbsp pav bhaji masala
  • 2 tbsp butter or oil
  • 1 tbsp. ginger garlic paste
For the pav:
  • 8  pavs
  • 4 tbsp butter

For serving:
  • 1  finely chopped onion
  • lemon slices- as needed
How to prepare bhaji:
  1. In a pressure cooker put cauliflower, pelled potatoes, carrots, peas and salt. Boil with 1/2 cup water. 2 whistles are usually enough
  2. Take a large pan, heat butter or oil, add the onion, capsicum, and fry till the mixture browns
  3. Then, add the  ginger garlic paste and fry for couple minutes.
  4. Add the tomatoes and cook till the oil separates
  5. Add the turmeric powder, chili powder, pav bhaji masala, cook for 2 minute
  6. Mix with the boiled vegetables and mash thoroughly using a potato masher, add ½ cup of water if needed
For the pav:
  • Horizontally, slice each pav into two. Apply some butter on each side
  • Put large flat pan on fame and sauté the pav on both sides till they are evenly browned

What to do next:

  • Serve the hot bhaji on 4 individual plates and garnish with onion and coriander
  • Serve with the hot pav and lemon slices
