Here is a mouthwatering and low calorie recipe of kala chana salad for dieters. Black chana is a rich source of dietary fiber. Start your day with this healthy salad. It is also very easy to prepare.

Cooking time: 30 minutes


  • 1-cup kala chana (black chickpeas)
  • 2 potatoes
  • 1 average sized onion
  • 1 average sized tomato
  • 2 green chilies
  • 2 tbsp pomegranate seeds
  • 2 tsp coriander
  • Mint leaves
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp roasted cumin powder
  • 1 ½ tsp chat masala
  • 1 ½ tsp chat masala
  • Salt to taste
How to prepare kala chana salad:
  1. Soak the kala chana for 7-8 hours
  2. Drain out the water and boil with 3-4 cups of water with ½ tsp salt in a pressure cooker
  3. Check if they are well cooked by pressing one chana in between your fingers, if it mashes they are boiled well. Strain them and keep aside.
  4. Boil the potatoes and then cut them into ½” cubes
  5. Chop the tomato and the onion into cubes
  6. Also chop chilly and coriander finely
  7. Mix lemon juice, chat masala, jeera powder, and little salt in a big bowl
  8. Then add chilies, potato cubes, chana, tomatoes, onion, and finely chopped coriander, stir well
  9. Plate out in a serving dish and garnish with pomegranate seeds and mint leaves, serve fresh
