Many people feel that their exercise regime would stay the same – after having a baby and ohhh how wrong they are. In reality when you have young kids your health takes a backseat, but it is important to take care of yourself. Here are a few tips which might help:

  1. Exercise when the kids are asleep- Seems hard as you only get little time to relax, but try exercising for atleast 30 minutes everyday.
  2. Be prepared the night before, have your clothes, socks and shoes ready. This will provide more motivation to get up and moving the next day.
  3. Have arrangements with friends/family/neighbors to mind the kids.
  4. If you are not able to head to the gym or go out, try short 5-10 minute routine’s at home. There are a number of options available on Youtube.
  5. Try power walk/run for 15 minutes with kids in Pram. You can invest in jogging pram as well.
  6. Try looking for a ‘mum friendly’ exercise or personal training group. Group activity with like-minded people is always more fun.
  7. Participate in marathons or fun runs. These provide motivation to continue training for the run.

Always remember, if you are new to exercise, try to be gentle on yourself. Set realistic goals, do not plan to run a marathon when the longest you have run is a km or two. Lastly, qlways seek medical advice before you start any fitness regime.
